Skills learnt the old fashioned way, marking profiles out on the floor followed by Xcut broad seaming to aspect ratio formulas. Later came the computer program's that allowed flying shape analysis of chord shapes and almost unlimited design possibilities.
Dave's keen involvement from the age of 7 in competitive sailing has seen him sail many classes from Holdfast trainer, International cadet, 420, 470, 505, Fireballs, Australian Sharpie, trailer sailers, sports boats, Various keel boats Sydney 32, 38, Jutsen 35, Melges 24, Antrim 27.
This wide range of experience and keen hands approach has seen Dave Alexander become an accomplished sailmaker with many top local, Australian and International Results.
With a passion for sailmaking and getting the best out of any sail he makes, has seen countless hours developing designs testing on the water, scale model building to evaluate flying shapes of spinnakers and asymmetric spinnakers.
